UK, US to see Haldiram’s restaurants soon |
Haldiram, the leading snacks and fastfood maker of the country has decided to take its restaurant business abroad. It plans to have at least three restaurants abroad within the next two year.
As told by Manohar Lal Agarwal, Chairman and MD of Haldiram, land for
restaurant and warehouses has been acquired in UK and the first
restaurant of its kind is expected to be operative there by the end of
this year. The work for statutory approval is already in process. The
company is also exploring opportunities in USA, Canada, Fiji and
Mauritius and intends to launch two more restaurants in series by 2011.
The company is already exporting its snacks and sweets to almost 60
countries world over. Shri Agarwal also hinted that the company has
decided to focus on its ready-to-eat products out of more than 150
products manufactured by it. Haldiram, a Rs 1200 crore enterprise has
about 28 restaurants in India with an average floor area of 5000 sq ft
each.
